Name: Zasalamel
Age: Unknown (Unable to determine due to his ability to reincarnate)
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Saint
Blood type: B
Family: Long since deceased
Description:
Bio: Zasalamel originally hailed from an ancient tribe that was tasked with the protection of Soul Calibur, many years ago. Zasalamel was angered by the sect's edicts that forbade the use of the sword; which didn't allow the tribe to use the weapon if a crisis were to occur. When trying to take Soulcalibur in his hands, he was discovered and shunned from the tribe. Zasalamel spent his time later in pursuit of ancient and forbidden knowledge thought lost, until he attained the art of reincarnation.
However, he reincarnated repeatedly over many generations, and gradually lost the joy of living as his existence waned and the pain of death increased. In an attempt to end what he considered a "curse", Zasalamel set his eyes on the Soul Edge. He would use its soul devouring properties to commit a form of suicide and release himself from the circle of eternal reincarnations. However, even a death by the sword was not enough, so Zasalamel turned his hopes to Soulcalibur, but when he reached the place where his tribe existed, he found no traces of it or the holy sword.
Tracking Soul Edge once again, he discovered Soulcalibur appeared as well to confront it. He hoped that he may be able to obtain both of them at once; but he discovered the Soul Edge had lost half of its body and become sealed, and the Soulcalibur had been infected by evil, gradually losing its strength. Then, in order to restore both blades to its power, he revived the will of the sword in the form of Nightmare. In order to aid the sword in its restoration, he needed to create conflict within the mind of Siegfried, the bearer of both blades, by leading survivors of Nightmare's past massacres towards him. If Soul Edge regained its strength, so would Soulcalibur in order to confront it. And at that time he would appear to clam both sword and use their power to break the curse, and save him from the cycle of reincarnation, allowing him a peaceful death.
That time came when Both the weilder of Soul Edge and Soul Calibur faced off in a Cathedral far from any civilization. He entered and stole the swords. Then, using another sacred art, he connected his body to the world of the abyss and created a jet-black orb which absorbed the swords with his own body, hoping that this would end the cycle of reincarnation that he was forced to endure. His body started to mutate and change, he gained overflowing power, enhanced senses, and a voice that rang throughout the area. he had become a monster.
Thinking he had finally achieved his goal, he renamed himself Abyss, for the orb that made him, and sought to test his new power and body. He called fire to rain down from the sky, he turned the river running from the Cathedral black and muddy, which began to stink of death. Then he made shockwaves that blew apart the Cathedral walls, showing the sun's light, which then turned a green tint and it hit the Cathedral. Then he turned to the fighters, who were watching in horror, and challenged them. It was a great battle. In the end, Abyss stood victorious and was about to strike the death blows against the two, when the both reached into the orb in the center of Abyss, and pulled out the swords, which had became separated once again. Abyss cried out in pain, as his body began to change again, reverting back into Zasalamel. And orb absorbed him and vanished. In that instant, when he was in the void, Zasalamel had a vision. He saw towering structures that seemed to reach to the heavens, steel boats that freely flew through the skies, The birth of a plan for leaving Earth and striking Moonward, and the creation of new life, the providence of the Gods themselves! He was seeing the future: the sum of all human potential. To Zasalamel, it was a revelation. For the first time in ages, he felt the will to live. he wanted to be there to see this become reality. After the vision, he found himself in a large crater. He then sensed the auras were stronger than ever. "Perfect." He thought as he smiled. The next time faced the sword, he would be able to control their power. Yet, he sensed something else, a power was growing that wasn't the swords. Something that threatened the glorious future that he saw. A being of tremendous power had awakened from the Spirit Sword. "Facinating, to think that being actually existed." He thought again. His path was now set. he would seek the Cursed and Spirit swords, and then he would not rest until the being that threatened the glorious future he saw at his feet.
Weapon: Death Scythe
Weapon Name: Kafziel
Name: Tira
Age: 17
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Class: Assassin/Thief (excpetion)
Blood type: AB
Family: No Family, but now accompanied by a flock of ravens
Master, Nightmare
Description:
Bio: Tira's origins trace back to her associations with an underground organization, though nothing further is known about her history. This organization, which went by the name "Bird of Passage", formed contracts with powerful people and sent out assassins to eliminate important figures in society. However, the groups kept its existence a secret and were allies with no one. Tira was raised by the group since childhood, stripped of her freedom and choice for her future. Over time, she grew accustomed to taking the lives of others without feeling anything, and grew to the point where killing became an addiction, committing such actions on a regular basis for the stimulation it provided. Eventually, she became free from the Bird of Passage after the leader's mind was burnt by the Evil Seed raining down while Tira was in the middle of a mission. With the chain of command now collapsed, Tira departed from the underground to roam the outside world with freedom. Tira continued her newfound life, taken in by an ordinary family in a quiet city amongst normal people, and although she still felt the slight urge to bring death to others, she managed to keep it contained, deciding that ordinary life was "okay". However, this peaceful lifestyle would not last for her dormant killing desire was triggered when she was scolded for releasing the pet bird of the family's child from its cage, giving no clear reason why, and was soon standing before the corpses of her now-former "family" before she realized what had happened.
Tira figured that she cannot live without inflicting death and, during her aimless wandering, she found out about the massacres of Nightmare and began to track him, finding something of a kindred spirit in the Azure Knight. She reached Ostrheinsburg, where she met a man wielding a scythe, who informed her that she in fact sought the wicked sword, Soul Edge, and that Nightmare was just a puppet. Upon hearing the revelation, she was disappointed for a short time but rejoiced at the news of Nightmare's reappearance. She finally found Nightmare after following trails of slaughters, and pledged herself entirely as faithful servant to the evil sword.
Tira operates secretly behind the scenes with two set objectives: destroy the spirit sword, Soul Calibur, thus breaking the seal over Soul Edge's body; and locate a new host for the cursed sword, since his actual body is an unstable temporal shell and he needs a host with both strong spiritual will and a body to operate.
In order to fulfill these objectives, Tira was granted the protection of Nightmare's raven sentries, the Watchers.Tira was deeply affected by the destruction unleashed by the meeting of Soul Calibur and Soul Edge. The collision left Tira's mind severely scarred, and threatened to tear her being apart. Tira survived through her devotion to Soul Edge, and managed to reassemble her consciousness. The process left her with dual personalities, essentially dividing her mind. Tira plots to assist Soul Edge in its conquest, and eventually become a part of the sword.

Due to this, she was often shunned and viewed with disdain by others. So, without a family to turn to and exposed to such hate and violence, she finally ran away from her home. Young and alone, she wandered to a city where a man took her in, and named her Setsuka (Snow Flower). Time passed, and Setsuka grew into a beautiful woman.
Her caretaker worked as a bodyguard in the region, and taught Setsuka her fighting technique while she was in his care, which grew more intense after he was defeated in a duel, though at the same time, he showered her with an overwhelming amount love, even buying her an elegant long-sleeved kimono. It would not be until after his death that she would come to recognize those feelings as love.
Setsuka recalled the words he had spoken on his deathbed. .."I did not teach you this art for the purpose of revenge. ..One who lives by the sword harbors no regret." Before dying, he told her his enemy's name: Heishiro Mitsurugi. Weapon Name: Ugetsu Kageuchi
Name: Heishiro Mitsurugi
Age: 29
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Samurai
Blood type: AB
Family Immediate Family (Parents and 3 brothers), taken by sickness
Description:
Bio: Mitsurugi was originally the son of a farmer in Bizen, which after suffering years of witnessing his homeland being ravaged by land, decided to take up swordsmanship under the tutelage of the Murakami Clan. Mitsurugi's skill and strength spread quickly over Japan, and he was recognized as a force to be reckoned on the battlefield, even being noted by both Uesugi Kenshin and Oda Nobunaga as a great warrior. After leaving the Murakami Clan, and having refused all military commendations offered for his services, Mitsurugi continued to fight in every war in Japan as a hired mercenary.
It was during this time he heard about a new weapon, the Rifle, said to be changing the way wars were fought. At first Mitsurugi dismissed the weapon as a novelty, but soon learned that it was capable of obliterating the Takeda cavalry and realized its real power. Deciding that a strong weapon was the only way to combat it, he started a quest in order to find the rumored Soul Edge.
Mitsurugi was unable to find any trace of Soul Edge, and in his frustration he carelessly challenged a man wielding the rifle Tanegashima to a duel in front of his lord, which he ultimately lost after receiving a bullet in his shoulder. He later departed in a new quest to perfect his swordsmanship, in order to defeat the rifle. During his training he learned of Nightmare's rampage on Europe and started a new quest to the west. He was once again unable to find his target, but he did not renounced to his quest.
Stumbling on a castle in Xiwei (present-day Xi'an), Mitsurugi saved a man that was being attacked by assassins, and as reward he received a fragment of Soul Edge the man possessed. After an incident in which a servant of the Ming Emperor refused to hand over the "Sword of Heroes", Mitsurugi sensed that war was coming.
After many battles, Mitsurugi grew dissatisfied with every battle he has participated in, even considering Soul Edge meaningless and the rifles no more a threat. Having lost concern over the rifle, his greatest enemy, Mitsurugi started to seek without success a challenger of his strength. After fending off a group of unknown attackers that were after the fragment he obtained in Xiwei, Mitsurugi noticed their style resembled that of Taki and decided to return to Japan to find out what was happening at the time, as well as to seek a showdown with Taki.
At the moment the Sengoku period had ended and Oda Nobunaga was dead. The leaders of the states were faced with the decision of whether or not to align with his successor, Toyotomi Hideyoshi. The Murakami clan, with whom Mitsurugi stayed upon his return, refused to join with mainland Japan, choosing to protect their existence as fierce pirates of the sea. Soon they attracted Toyotomi Hideyoshi's attention, and a confrontation became imminent. Mitsurugi, having found no trace of Taki, decided to aid the Murakami in the upcoming nighttime raid. After the victory of the Muramaki, Mitsurugi was decorated for his services by the Murakami commander. The commander mentioned to him rumors about the resurface of Nightmare, and Mitsurugi, considering the knight possible challenger, quickly set out to Europe once again.
While searching for Nightmare, Mitsurugi searched for many powerful warriors from all over the world. But no matter how many enemies he fought and how powerful he became, he still hungered for more. He gave up searching for the legendary sword because he figured that no matter how powerful a weapon, it's useless if one doesn't have the strength to match it.
However, after he defeated some assassins that were looking for information about Soul Edge, he remembered the fragment of the evil sword that he had. He was about to throw it away because he felt that he didn't need it, when suddenly, the fragment had an unholy glow, and then it flew into the sky, heading west.
With anticipation, Mitsurugi followed, hoping to find both Nightmare and Soul Edge. He also heard rumors that the land before him was filled with terror, and horrible monsters and insane warriors were gathering. But these stories didn't scare Mitsurugi. In fact, he was excited. This was a challenge that seemed worthy for him.

Name: Taki

Gender: Male
Class: Ninja
Blood type: A
Family: Immediate family / All taken by sickness
Master / Toki (Taki opposes him now that she left the clan)
Description:
Bio: Taki is a Japanese orphan raised in the Fu-Ma ninja clan, under the care of its headmaster, Toki. She is a capable fighter in both unarmed and armed combat, as well as an accomplished demon huntress, spy and blacksmith. After a hard fight against a demon who haunted a temple, she discovers her beloved weapon, the magical ninjatō she named Rekkimaru, was considerably weakened. Discovering the source to be Soul Edge, Taki decides to travel west to save her treasured sword, and to hunt down Soul Edge as well.
After many battles, Taki confronted the dreaded pirate Cervantes, current weilder of the evil blade at the time, and obtained a fragment of the shattered sword. In the process, she also saved another character, Sophitia, who was the one who shattered the smaller of the Soul Edges. After bringing Sophitia back to her home, She tries to merge the fragment with her Rekki-Maru without success. But when she fused it with her other weapon, Mekki-Maru, it shed a powerful evil aura. In order to destroy this new evil weapon, Taki sought to pit it against Soul Edge, hoping both blades would destroy themselves.
Originally, her leader Toki, owned the sword Mekki-Maru, but former Fu-Ma leader Hachibei stole the mysterious sword and escaped. Turned a nukenin (fugitive), she is ordered to kill both him and her daughter Chie, a childhood friend of her, and bring back the blade. With her network intelligence, Taki locates Hachibei quickly, and she is informed about Toki's obsession with the powers of the blade. Hachibei urges her to not let Toki get ahold the Mekkimaru and gives Taki a kodachi (short sword). Taki later gives a false report to Toki, leading his forces in pursuit of Li Long, Chie's lover, under the idea he has Mekkimaru after killing both Hachibei and Chie. However, Taki is eventually found out by Toki's right hand man, a ninja known as Geki. Surviving the encounter, Taki becomes a nukenin herself, being pursued by her former allies as she tries to destroy Mekki-Maru.
After hearing Soul Edge was destroyed by a group of warriors, she decides to try to tame the evil kodachi instead. Four years after, several Fu-Ma ninja tried to capture her without success. Taki discovers then that they carry Soul Edge fragments, and reaches the realization Toki has many more of them, and was looking for her to gather information. Taki decided to keep both Soul Edge and Mekki-Maru from Toki, but became worried of him as well.
Taki decided to travel back to Japan, discovering that the Fu-Ma village was suffering from internal conflicts due to Toki's madness. Taki contacted the rebellious part of the Fu-Ma and discovered Toki's location on the Great Buddha Shrine. Sneaking there, Taki faced her master Toki, who recently absorbed the Oni spirits within the shrine. Taki defeats her master with the techniques he taught her, but then the spirits dwelling within him came out from him and traveled west. Knowing they are going for Soul Edge, and that the sword's presence was weak enough to allow its destruction, Taki starts a new journey to end Soul Edge at once.
Taki came to the Lost Cathedral, and witnessed the battle between Siegfried, who had Soul Calibur, and Nightmare, who had Soul Edge. She expected the two swords to destroy each other, but the opposite happened. They unleashed a powerful cataclysm, with destroyed the cathedral. Taki barely escaped herself.
She knew that both swords were still alive, but it is most likely that they will clash with each other again. Taki then learned that Soul Edge was in Ostrheinsburg, and Siegfried was heading there with Soul Calibur. Taki wondered if he will control the spirit sword's power. Not wanting chance to decide this question, Taki hurried to do what must be done.

Name: Ivy (Isabella Valentine)
Age: 32
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Class: Pirate
Blood type: Unknown
Family: Adoptive Parents / Deceased
Father / Cervantes de León
Mother / Deceased
Description:
Bio: Ivy was raised in the home of the Valentines, prominent nobles in London, England. However, her father, the Count Valentine, died a madman, driven to insanity having squandered the family fortune with his obsession for alchemy in pursuit of the Soul Edge. Soon after the fall of the Valentine family, her mother fell gravely ill and told Ivy, on her deathbed that she had been found on their doorstep years ago and was adopted. However, Ivy had no interest in finding her biological parents. Ivy eventually learned about her father's search for Soul Edge in his secret diaries and began to follow in his footsteps, thus becoming an alchemist herself. In her research, Ivy had learned that Soul Edge was evil and vowed to destroy it. She succeeded in creating a weapon suited for this purpose through ancient sorcery, but the snake sword was completely devoid of life. She drove herself to great frustration and rage trying to bring life to the "Ivy Blade", but no amount of alchemy or witchcraft would succeed. One night she was able to summon a deformed hand, which breathed life into her sword. During her journey she crossed paths with the Azure Knight, Nightmare, and his companions, the golem Astaroth and Lizardman; discovering that Nightmare was the one who gave life to Ivy Blade. Because of this, she agreed to help them in a ceremony to summon souls, oblivious to the fact that she was part of Soul Edge's plan.
Eventually, she began to feel guilty for taking the lives of innocent people, repulsed that the other members of her group even took joy in it--especially Astaroth. When trying to escape from the group in Ostrheinsburg Castle's underground passage, Astaroth caught up with her, revealing to her that the sword Nightmare was holding had been Soul Edge all along; and the only reason she had been allowed to join their group was that the sword had instructed Nightmare to keep her nearby in case anything would happen to him, so that she might be a spare host for the sword's evil intentions. Astaroth defeated her in battle and was about to murder her when Kilik, Xianghua and Maxi, stormed into the castle; and as he left to deal with them, he commanded his clay golems to finish her off. But she managed to defeat them all, albeit just barely.
In denial of Astaroth's story, she decided to ask Nightmare for the truth directly when Taki confronted her. She attacked Taki in her frustration but was too weary and was defeated again. Taki, familiar with the energy of Soul Edge, affirmed Astaroth's story in telling Ivy that the snake sword had been infused with some of Soul Edge's power; and sensing the evil aura surrounding Ivy's entire being, she proceeded to tell Ivy that the last time she had felt such evil was when she had defeated the previous owner of the evil sword, Cervantes de Leon. Ivy had the blood of evil in her, as she was Cervantes' daughter; and shaken by the horrible truth, Ivy sealed herself away in her laboratory. After four years of soul searching, Ivy returned with a renewed drive to destroy Soul Edge and everything connected to it, including Cervantes and eventually herself. There would be no hope for those seduced by the sword and no cure besides her death. Her resolution would result in spilled blood, both guilty and innocent; but nothing could sway her determination. She renamed her sword which shared her fate, Valentine.
Over the course of her journey, her snake sword began to change. Seeing it becoming more unstable than it had ever been, she returned to Valentine Mansion to investigate. On her way back, she stopped at an academic city in England to buy texts and books of secret arts from around the world; and she read over them extensively upon her return, especially one volume that was of particular interest to her. It was much older than the other books, and contained detailed descriptions and accounts regarding the nature and origin of the Soul Edge. This was the deepest information written about the sword she had ever known. But within the texts she learned of a second spirit sword, the holy blade Soulcalibur, which restrained the power of the evil sword and lent its power to fight against it. The story was hard to believe to her, but the description was so precise that she eventually accepted it as truth.
After a month of work, she had managed to decipher every single detail concerning the Soulcalibur's description, and was totally convinced it existed. She fell into a hypnotic state of thought, interrupted by the sound of the laboratory door opening. Startled, she looked to the entrance, where an enigmatic dark-skinned man was standing. She firmly demanded his identification, but he quietly answered her only with another question as to whether or not she had read the book. Ivy grabbed the book and, taking her distance, drew her weapon. From seemingly nowhere, the man had produced a large scythe. They began their fierce combat immediately, each deflecting every deadly strike that the other had produced. But her sword's instability began to show itself, leaving a slight opening in her defense; and she was struck down with a heavy blow. She managed to regain her distance, but the book was no longer in her hand. The man had picked it up, calling it a mistake from his past, and then proceeded to set it on fire. He dropped the burning book on the floor, and the flames spread with unusual fervor, separating her from him. As he turned to leave, she called for him to stop. He only turned around to tell her that if she wished to know everything about the swords, she must seek out the knight she knows so well; and the enigma known as Zasalamel disappeared behind the curtain of flames. Ivy put out the fire and thought over the information she had read on the Soulcalibur, now etched permanently into her memory. With such power, she may be able to destroy the Soul Edge once and for all, and her own snake sword's instability may be explained. She cursed the man for how he treated her, but strangely felt that everything he had said was true. Ivy was determined to find the truth. If the Soulcalibur existed, she would obtain it for herself.
Ivy searched for a way to destroy Soul Edge when she heard of Soul Calibur from a great empire, but she wasn't able to wield it because she had the blood of the cursed sword in her veins. So she went back to her mansion and began creating an artificial soul that she would use. But then she was attacked by Cervantes, and he consumed almost all of her soul.
Fortunately for her, Ivy used the artificial soul that she made to save her life. But her research was incomplete, and death would soon come to her. Even so, her sword still responds to her because she still has a fraction of her soul. And since she's now more pure with her artificial soul, she might be able to wield Soul Calibur.
So Ivy now sets on what might be her final journey to destroy Soul Edge once and for all.

Name: Astaroth
Age: 7
Race: Demon
Gender: Male
Class: Barbarian
Blood Type: None
Family: Servant of Ares
Creator, Kunpaetku (deceased)
Description:
Bio: The god of war and destruction, Ares, desired Soul Edge, so he ordered Kunpaetku, the grand priest of the cult order Fygul Cestemus, to seek it out. Astaroth, a golem, was created in hellish heat under the divine protection of the god of war (Ares) to head up the quest. Kunpaetku ordered his creation, Astaroth, to find the demonic blade. As he watched Astaroth depart from the shrine, the grand priest laughed to himself as he planned to keep the Soul Edge and become a god for himself. Unknown to Kunpaetku, however, Ares had possessed Astaroth with his servants, the Keres, to ensure that Kunpaetku would not betray him. When Astaroth finally found Soul Edge, it had lost half of itself during the battle with Sophitia Alexandra. Deciding that Ares would not be pleased with the sword in this condition, he agreed to help the azure knight, Nightmare, build its power by collecting souls by slaughtering countless victims. As Astaroth was finally ready to betray Nightmare and take the Soul Edge from him, Kilik, Xianghua and Maxi, stormed Ostrheinsburg Castle, and Astaroth was killed by Maxi. Four years later, signs of Soul Edge began to reemerge, and Ares resurrected Astaroth in an attempt to retrieve the evil blade once again. This time, though, his body had been infused with shards of the Soul Edge, making him more powerful and ruthless than ever before.
Astaroth had set out on the trail for the evil blade, but a problem arose. The grand priest Kunpaetku had realized his golem was not behaving as originally instructed--that another force now claimed ownership over Astaroth since his initial creation. In order to reclaim Astaroth as his servant, Kunpaetku performed a ritual on the lowest level of the cult's temple and unleashed a powerful curse on him. But Astaroth fought back against the curse, for he had become an ideal host for the Keres, because of the fragments of Soul Edge he had taken in during his resurrection. He would destroy anyone who stood in his way, and now the cult had become nothing more than an obstacle in his path. Astaroth entered the temple to destroy the cult once and for all, and his whirlwind of destruction mowed down everything in his path. The curse had only fueled him with anger, and he was determined to destroy anything and everything he saw. The temple of the heretics had become a crucible of chaos. Astaroth pursued Kunpaetku into the deepest part of the temple, but the grand priest managed to escape at the last minute. Only the words the priest left behind remained, telling him that he was nothing more than a failed doll modeled after a mere human. Astaroth immediately stopped in his tracks, distracted with this newfound horrible knowledge, and began to search the temple's archives for his roots. He had been made in the image of a man called only by the name "White Giant." Astaroth destroyed the facility in which Kunpaetku's ritual had been performed, and his curse faded such that he regained his true strength. He then proceeded to destroy the temple completely until it became unrecognizable debris, and nothing was left but chaos and rubble. Fygul Cestemus had been wiped from history by the very being that they themselves had created. Astaroth stood within the ruined temple, quietly thinking to himself. If the "White Giant" he had been modeled after was as powerful as himself, then that man must surely be the greatest soul on earth, the perfect nourishment to resurrect the Soul Edge back to its full power. But perhaps Astaroth himself did not realize his own hidden desire to destroy the "White Giant"--to make himself a complete creature, unique without any model. The golem set out, his new objective set, disappearing into the mirages in the distance. Behind him was only a column of smoke rising from a ruinous wasteland; in front of him somewhere was the perfect soul.
Astaroth had been unconsciously fighting the thoughts of him being created in the image of the "White Giant". But then he finally found the man and nearly killed him. Suddenly, he realized that he had been serving Ares all this time. This thought made him insane, and he destroyed the landscape around him.
Then Tira approached him, and told him that she can bring him a fitting place where he can hunt a god. But Astaroth can clearly see that she is a very loyal servant of the evil sword, and she was just using him. Then again, she was right about the fact that he needed a better place to find souls. So he went to Ostrheinsburg and became Nightmare's servant again. Only this time, he plans to devour everything; those who descend upon Ostrheinsburg, and even Soul Edge itself.

Bio: Voldo's past began as the right-hand man of Italian weapons merchant Vercci, known as the Merchant of Death due to his business with the Spanish Armada. Vercci desired Soul Edge to form part of his collection of rare weapons, and Voldo stood as the head of the expeditions in his search, even contracting the services of the feared Spanish Captain Cervantes de Leon, and later accompanied Vercci when he decided to take the search personally. When word came that the Italian Wars broke on Italy and that Vercci's possessions were the first targets, Vercci grew mad. He moved his fleet, his only remaining possession, on an uninhabited island off the coast of Sicily in the Mediterranean Sea and dug a 50-mt deep shaft that would serve as his tomb and vault. Voldo would later be instructed to slay the sailors that helped in the construction to avoid the location of Vercci's Money Pit to be revealed, and then later shut himself with his deceased master. Voldo would remain sealed underground, turning himself into the guardian of the tomb and slaying those who ventured to steal, making rumours of the island, its treasures and its "ghost guardian" spread around the globe. Years later, Voldo would hear his master's voice commanding him to search Soul Edge once again, making him leave the tomb once again in search of it.
Voldo's search of Soul Edge ended a failure, and he returned to the Money Pit to find it flooded by a storm. After saving what he could, Voldo remained inside for the 3 year span, later to reemerge from the pit following a woman with the essence of Soul Edge, Ivy, who tried to find leads on the sword for herself. Voldo returned to the Money Pit after taking Yoshimitsu's katana, mistaking it for Soul Edge due to its evil aura, only to find years later an intruder with Soul Edge fragments. Voldo realized it was not Soul Edge and set outside on a new search, collecting fragments while seeking it.
During one of his periodic visits to the Pit, Voldo found the tomb ransacked and the sword he mistook for Soul Edge stolen alongside the fragments he collected in his travels. Since the thieves were apparently interested in Soul Edge, he decided to track and force them to reveal any information of the sword they know. He also came to realize he was someday going to die and leave the pit unprotected, so he also started to search a worthy successor.
Voldo does find Soul Edge with Nightmare at Ostrheinsburg. As he picked up the sword, he heard Soul Edge's voice, in disguise of his master's, telling him that he has done well in finding Soul Edge. But he still had to protect the sword from those who wish either to take it, or destroy it. For the first time ever after a long period of time, Voldo shed his tears.
While the evil sword began to possess his heart, Voldo vowed to serve only "Vercci", and promised that he will destroy the "master's" enemies.
Weapon: Dual Jamadhar Katars
Weapon Name: Manas & Ayus
Name: Raphael Sorel
Age: 32
Race: Demon (Once Human)
Gender: Male
Class: Knight
Blood Type: A
Family: Relatives, (cut all ties)
Foster Daughter, Amy
Description:
Bio: Raphael, the young master of the Sorel family, grew up with the rapier and medicine as his playmates. His cool, unemotional demeanor created many enemies, but his quick and precise decision-making and execution skills were prominent features of his family amongst the nobles. Unfortunately, Raphael made a critical mistake during the year of the notorious Evil Seed and killed an insane nobleman--a noble supported by his family. His family cast him out of their household and even aided the town in their pursuit of the murderer.
Raphael hid himself in a poor town to escape from his pursuers. There he met a young girl named Amy who hid the weakened Raphael from his enemies. For Raphael, this marked the first time he had ever owed his life to someone else, causing him to feel emotions he had never experienced before--Amy became an irreplaceable presence in his life.
Convinced that the chaos of the war in France at that time was no place to live, Raphael took Amy away. But even with the new surroundings, he could not get Amy to open her heart to the world. Then one day Raphael found a letter with references to the Evil Seed. It wasn't long before he could make the connections between the Evil Seed and the insanity of the noble that had attacked him; and he knew that the source of all this evil was a cursed sword called Soul Edge.
He pondered over the consequences that could occur if the pathetic nobles were to have the sword thrust into their possession; they would destroy themselves from the inside. Raphael decided to retrieve the sword himself so that the war-mongering nobles could be eliminated and a meaningful future could be secured for his foster daughter Amy.
He was determined to obtain the Soul Edge by any means necessary for the sake of this young girl, and concocted an insane scheme to help him achieve his end.
In his quest for the Soul Edge, Raphael tracked down and pursued its possessor, the Azure Knight Nightmare, at Ostrheinsburg Castle, but after a fierce battle he was defeated. His body weakened and his consciousness fading, Raphael looked up towards the Azure Knight, about to deliver a finishing blow, and muttered Amy's name. Emotion overcame Raphael's entire being, and he forced his body to move. The desperate strike he unleashed pierced the center of Soul Edge's eye; and his opponent writhed in pain. That was the last he remembered before losing consciousness. Once he recovered, he found he was alive and that the Azure Knight left without killing him.
Raphael dragged his wounded body back to his mansion. He spent several days on the brink of death, but eventually recovered. But he didn't notice the evil energy that had radiated in his Soul Edge induced wounds. He had come across the phenomenon of malignity transformation before in his research, but the transformation was already completed by the time Raphael thought this.
The symptoms even spread to Amy, possibly infected while she was treating his wounds. Their minds were intact, but they suffered physical symptoms. Their skin turned pale and their eyes shone red. They felt weak and sluggish by day and a powerful thirst by night. Not long before, the neighboring people learned of their strange behavior. Thinking it was some form of plague, they attempted to drive them away. Furious, Raphael thought on taking vengeance, but having priority in Amy's safety, he took her away for good.
They traveled to Wallachia and purchased a castle ruin in the mountainous terrain, taking advantage of the war throughout the land. But Raphael had no intentions on living on the run. Since Amy has turned into a being that cannot interact with the world, he concluded that the world would change for them, and started spreading his evil plague. Eventually it moved into a great scale, reaching even a neighboring city. One day Raphael found that many of the transformed citizens had been returned to their original self thanks to something called "Holy Stone", a charm brought by a recent visitor. Raphael tried to steal the stone, but upon touching it his hand surged with pain as if it had been burned. Enraged, Raphael destroyed the stone.
But he still wondered if there were any other "Holy Stone" or charm with similar powers in the world. Feeling threatened, Raphael decided to venture away to seek out the stones' true nature and destroy them completely. But before leaving, an army, who had noticed the region's abnormality, appeared at the castle's base. Raphael bid his farewell to Amy before descending to confront the soldier's army by himself.
Raphael gave up his search for Soul Edge. He figured that there was something more powerful than the evil sword, considering the fact that the Holy Stone had returned many of Raphael's victims back to normal. So he had to find another way to created the perfect world for Amy. After obtaining some information from some creatures of the dark, Raphael learned of a story that was passed down by a tribe that was already lost in history: the story of Soul Calibur. It was then that Raphael convinced himself that this spirit sword was the key in creating a new world.
All of a sudden, lights dashed across the sky. Raphael followed them to Ostrheinsburg, where he once fought against Nightmare. He knew that Soul Edge was being revived. And soon, the spirit sword will arrive to battle the evil sword one more.
So Raphael now waits for Soul Calibur to appear so he can obtain it for himself and create his ideal world for himself and his beloved daughter.
Weapon: Rapier
Weapon Name: Flambert
Name: Nightmare
Age: Unknown (Existed since ancient times)
Race: Demon
Gender: None (Exception)
Class: Barbarian
Blood Type: None
Family: Servant, Tira
Former host, Siegfried
Description:
Bio: In the instant that the spirit sword pierced the cursed sword, no one noticed the evil flame of the sword flowing out. Over the years of countless battle and slaughter, the evil sword apparently obtained a soul of its own. This invisible entity- the will of Soul Edge- chose to cling on to the armor that Siegfried left behind. The armor that spread terror throughout Europe. The armor of Nightmare. Though without the sword, it could not even move the bodiless host. All it could do was for an opportunity...
Some time later, a man with an enormous scythe appeared in the chapel, and saw that the armor had a soul all its own. The man went over to the remains of the armor and seemed to have a wordless conversation with the sword. Within a few moments, the man agreed to help. Using some kind of sacred art, he combined the evil energy still within the armor, and combined it with the spirits trapped within the chapel, and weaved them within the armor. When it was all over the Azure knight was reborn, and in his hand a bizarrely-shaped sword that resembled the cursed sword, appeared in its deformed hand.
Seeing that the ritual worked, the man with the scythe melted into the shadows, his face emotionless.
Seeing that this was the first time that the spirit of Soul Edge was its own being, it started its interaction with the world with the only action it knew and wanted to do. It started a rampage across Europe, killing every human it could find, and devouring their souls in order to sustain its new body, and to increase its own power. Eventually, its twisted compass that directed it would eventually lead to its former host and the freeing of Soul Edge itself.
That meeting came at a Cathedral far from any civilization, the two fought for control of the swords. But something was happening that neither of the fighters knew. Deep in the recesses of both swords, something began to awaken...
At that moment, a new fighter appeared to challenge both Siegfried and Nightmare. The man with the Scythe, called Zasalamel, entered and stole the swords from Siegfried.
Then he turned to Siegfried and Nightmare, who were watching in horror, and challenged them.
In the face of the power they had just seen, An unlikely alliance formed between Siegfried and Nightmare in order to defeat this threat. The both charged at Abyss. And orb absorbed him and vanished, bringing the area back to normal.
Seeing that their foe was defeated, Nightmare and Siegfried began to fight each other again. This time with Nightmare holding Soul Edge once again, and Siegfried holding Soul Calibur. And as the swords clashed against each other, the Cathedral was completely destroyed, only a crater remained where it once stood.
As for Siegfried, Nightmare, and the swords, they fell into the world of the Abyss, due to some of the orbs power were still on the swords.
As with Nightmare, the armor that was him could not stand the force of the clash of the swords, and was shredded. It lay in the Abyss for what seemed like an eternity. But even then, Soul Edge desired power. Using it's own power, It opened the Abyss and the realm spat out both the sword and the remains of Nightmare into the throne room of Ostrhesinburg Castle, and closed up. The sword then stretched it's evil strength into the armor, repairing it. Due to the power that was awakened, the fragment of Soul Edge that were scattered around the world started to return to the blade. Soul Edge called them in, and combined them into itself. For the first time in ages, the sword was mostly whole...
Nightmare then took a hold of the blade, and sank in into the floor. the evil of the blade the spread into the castle, and into the very land of Ostrhesinburg itself. It had became a cursed city. And there Nightmare and Soul Edge sat, waiting for the warriors who would gather to the city in order to claim the blade, just to be defeated and their souls given to the blade, and well as Soul Calibur. They would destroy them all.
Weapon: Giant Sword
Weapon Name: Soul Edge
Name: Kilik
Age: 23
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Monk
Blood Type: A
Family: Master, Edge Master
Sworn sister, Xianglian (deceased)
Description:
Bio: Kilik was found as a baby on the doorstep of the Ling-Sheng Su Temple, widely considered to be the greatest martial arts school in China. After the monks of the temple gave up their search for the child's parents, they decided to raise him as an orphan. Eventually, he was regarded as the temple's finest student and was hired as one of the school's teachers, eventually leading him to be the elected candidate for inheritor of the holy bo staff, Kali-Yuga, one of the three sacred treasures of the temple. However, he had always remained somewhat troubled and insomniac.
One night, his "sworn sister", Xianglian, visited him as he was deep in thought, and revealed that she had become elected for inheritor of the holy mirror Dvapara-Yuga. But she also divulged the details of a conversation she had overheard; that only two of the treasures still existed at the temple, because the Krita-Yuga had been stolen years ago by her biological father and that the monks had been hiding this the entire time. She had been nominated for the Dvapara-Yuga instead, because she had told the master of the temple that she felt unworthy to inherit the Krita-Yuga, considering her family history, and her selfless reflection was a prominent feature of her inheritance of Dvapara-Yuga.
However, the night before the succession ceremony, the Evil Seed rained down on the temple, and an evil presence overwhelmed the inhabitants. Sensing the evil, the monks who were preparing for the ceremony immediately transferred ownership of the holy artifacts to Kilik and Xianglian. Minutes later, everyone in the temple lost their sanity except Xianglian. With madness combined with his great skills, Kilik killed many temple members as everyone fought one-another. Xianglian realized the power of the mirror and slung it around Kilik's shoulder, causing him to regain his sanity as she lost hers. When Kilik had completely regained his senses, he realized that the monks had slaughtered each other. He tried to leave, but the only other known survivor, Xianglian, blocked his way, now totally corrupted by the Evil Seed, and attacked him. He tried to avoid hurting her, but was forced to kill her in self-defense.
An old man, the Edge Master--advisor and teacher of the Ling-Sheng Su martial arts--found Kilik's unconscious body in the temple. He set the corrupted temple on fire and carried Kilik home. After two days, Kilik finally awoke, and Edge Master told him the truth: Kilik and Kali-Yuga had been infected with the Evil Seed, the source of which was the demonic sword, Soul Edge. The only thing protecting his sanity was the Dvapara-Yuga, and he could never remove the holy mirror from his shoulder at any time. Wrought with grief that his life had come at the sacrifice of Xianglian's, Kilik trained with Edge Master for three years, trying to learn to control the evil within himself and Kali-Yuga. Once his training was complete, Edge Master gave him the final test of destroying the Soul Edge, and Kilik embarked on that quest to purify himself and his weapon.
On his journey, Kilik traveled to an Indian port town to request a pirate ship to take him where he wanted to go. He met the Japanese pirate of the Ryūkyū Kingdom, Kyam, who instantly took a liking to him, and granted Kilik's request for boarding, provided the ship's captain, Maxi, agreed when he returned. As Kilik waited for Maxi, a mysterious ship approached, which resulted in an attack, led by Astaroth. Maxi returned and Kilik assisted him during the attack. Astaroth managed to remove Dvapara-Yuga causing Kilik to lose sanity and attack Maxi. Maxi suppressed Kilik long enough to put Dvapara-Yuga back on him and they continued to fight, but every member of Maxi's crew was left dead, and Maxi decided to aid Kilik in his quest. Later, the two met Chai Xianghua, a member of the Ming Dynasty Imperial Guard, who aided them in their travels. (Although neither Kilik nor Xianghua knew that Xianglian was her long-lost sister.) With Maxi and Xianghua's help, Kilik stormed Ostrheinsburg Castle and defeated Nightmare, although Maxi was thought to be killed and the Dvapara-Yuga was destroyed. Kilik figured out he had learned to control the demonic powers within him and Kali-Yuga as he kept his sanity after Dvapara-Yuga was destroyed.
After Nightmare's defeat, Xianghua and Kilik were challenged by the demonic entity, Inferno within a demonic void. Kilik was too weak to fight, so Xianghua fought in his stead. During the battle, her keepsake tai chi jian transformed into the holy sword, Soul Calibur, allowing her to defeat Inferno. In the end, however, she was forced to leave the sword behind in order to drag Kilik to safety as the void collapsed.
Afterwards, Kilik returned alone to Edge Master's hermitage, continuing to perfect the technique of neutralizing and purifying evil energy. Four years later, he sensed the return of Soul Edge, and set out on another journey to defeat Soul Edge once and for all, so that he could atone for the sins he committed the night of the fateful Evil Seed. Along the way, he encountered Xianghua again. They argued over their difference of opinions (namely, they both argued that it was their duty to destroy Soul Edge this time), but they still travelled together in the end.
While purifying a town infected with evil, the two encountered Zasalamel. Kilik engaged Zasalamel in battle, but lost. Before he lost consciousness, Kilik heard Zasalamel tell him that if he challenged Soul Edge unprepared, he would be trapped in its dark abyss. He awoke a month later in Edge Master's hermitage, carried there by Xianghua. Sensing a terrible energy within his wounds, Edge Master had performed a special ritual to treat them. Kilik realized that he would not be able to seal Soul Edge with his current strength. Thinking to himself, he placed his hand on his chest and realized that the fragment of the Dvapara-Yuga was gone.
Edge Master then ordered Kilik to begin training. He surrounded himself in a dark aura, similar to a person affected by the Evil Seed. Armed with only the Kali-Yuga, Kilik realized that his target should be the evil energy within Edge Master. Within three months, Kilik managed to strike Edge Master with a purifying blow, enough to free his teacher's mind, but at the same time, seriously injuring him.
Edge Master told Kilik that even though he still lacked skill, and that a pure spirit strikes only at evil without harming the body, he noted that Kilik had made good progress in a short time. He handed Kilik another fragment of the Dvapara-Yuga and a letter from Xianghua. She wrote that she would improve on her skills and regain her courage, and she believed that together, they would be able to destroy Soul Edge. With these words, Kilik set out west to once again pursue the evil.
After finishing his training, Kilik realized that Soul Calibur was an entity that is no different from Soul Edge. Their powers had to be balanced so they can eliminate each other.
He and Xianghua had been traveling together for quite some time. He knew that she had feelings for him, But he could not return them back because she look almost exactly like Xianglian, the woman that he looked up to as an older sister. Everytime Xianghua smiled at him, he was reminded of the fact that he murdered Xianglian with his own two hands.
As the two of them got nearer to the cursed city of Ostrheinsburg, Kilik plans on leaving Xianghua when the time is right. He convinces himself that he must bring balance between the two swords.

Weapon Name: Kulutues
Name: Voldo
Age: 50
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Class: Dancer
Blood Type: A
Family Parents, (deceased)
Four brothers, (killed through warfare)
Master, Vercci (deceased)
Description:

Then he turned to Siegfried and Nightmare, who were watching in horror, and challenged them.
In the face of the power they had just seen, An unlikely alliance formed between Siegfried and Nightmare in order to defeat this threat. The both charged at Abyss.
